Wednesday I hired a taxi to drive me around Panama and show me the sites, for
a whopping $6/hour. For someone used to NYC taxi prices, that's quite the
bargin.
This was next to the President's house. Presidential parking only.
Not far away was this church on the town square.
Ruins of a merchant house (I think?) around the corner from the church.
Interior of a different church
A former prison that is now a resturant
A view of islands out in the bay, from in front of the French embasy.
The ruins of old Panama, which was sacked by Henry Morgan.
The Miraflores Locks, the final set of locks between the canal and the Pacific.
This ship was "Panamax" size, the largest that will fit through the canal.
The Panama canal is still so important to shipping, 90+ years after it was
built, that ships are built expressly to fit through.
